The American Youth Academy firmly believes in and encourages collaboration at all levels of the school: Among Administrators, among teachers, among students, among parents and among and between all groups. AYA's motto is: Working together for every student's success.
Since its founding, the American Youth Academy has instituted programs to deal as effectively as possible with students of varying abilities and exceptionalities and has partnered with professionals from the public school system and from the private sector to address the needs of its students. The school currently offers an Honors program for students in Gr. 6 - 12; AP coursework for students in Gr. 9 - 11; Special Ed services for students in Gr. K - 8; and the IB Diploma Program for students in Gr. 11 & 12.
On October 8, 2014, American Youth Academy was awarded the status of IB World School Offering the Diploma Programme and joined the ranks of over 3,900 IB World Schools in 147 countries.
The American Youth Academy also focuses on the student as a whole and not only on academics. The school encourages athleticism, proper nutrition, voluntarism and service, and strong moral character. All of these characteristics of the school, when put together and when combined with the school's strong emphasis on parent involvement, make the American Youth Academy attractive to families within the Tampa Bay Area and to families who move to Tampa from within the United States and from overseas to enroll their children in the school.
The American Youth Academy was also chosen from among 2000 private schools in Florida to receive the Governor's Shine Award on September 24, 2013, because of AYA's outstanding commitment to the importance of school-parent partnerships as demonstrated through its work with Success Partners.
