What is PBIS?
PBIS refers to Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support, which encompasses “a range of research-based strategies used to increase quality of life and decrease problem behavior by teaching new skills and making changes in a person's environment.” (APBS, 2014). PBIS is a proactive approach that schools can use to improve school safety and promote positive behavior. Additionally, it is a way for schools to decide how to respond to a student who does not meet expectations.
