At AYA, the safety and security of our students, teachers, and staff are of utmost importance. To ensure a secure environment, we have a dedicated security officer stationed at the gate entrance who monitors traffic coming in and out of the school property. The security officer has the authority to stop any vehicle or individual whom they do not recognize and request identification. They also have the discretion to deny entry to any unknown person or vehicle as a precautionary measure. In case of any doubts or concerns, the security officer promptly contacts the central administration office to verify the credentials of visitors.
Furthermore, the security officer plays a vital role in maintaining order within the school premises. They diligently collect passes from students and staff as they leave campus and submit them to the administration daily. In the event of an emergency, the security officer acts promptly and contacts 911 for immediate assistance.
SCHOOL DRIVEWAYS AND PARKING AREAS
Parents and visitors are kindly requested to exercise extreme caution while using the school driveways and parking areas. The speed limit on 130th Avenue is strictly limited to 10 miles per hour to ensure the safety of our children. When dropping off or picking up students, parents are urged to yield the right of way to walkers and never allow students to cross between parked buses or cars.
To maintain order and safety on the school grounds, it is essential to adhere to designated parking spots and avoid parking in "NO PARKING" areas. The drop-off and pick-up zones and grass areas are strictly off-limits for parking.
In collaboration with our commitment to safety, students from the elementary and middle schools are actively involved in the Safety Patrol. These responsible students undergo special training to assist during arrival and dismissal each day. We kindly request parents, students, and staff to respect and follow their directions. The Assistant Principal oversees the actions of the Safety Patrol, and any concerns regarding their performance should be immediately reported to them.
At AYA, we prioritize the well-being of our entire school community, and our safety measures are in place to create a secure and nurturing environment for all.
