Secondary Curriculum

At American Youth Academy we pride ourselves on promoting a strong Islamic identity while delivering a rigorous academic curriculum that aligns with the Florida Sunshine Standards and incorporates the MYP framework and philosophy. Our school places a strong emphasis on Islamic teachings and values. Daily prayers/ duaa,  Quranic studies, and Islamic Studies  are integral parts of our curriculum. We strive to instill a deep understanding of Islamic principles and foster a sense of community and moral responsibility among our students.

We seamlessly integrate the Florida Sunshine Standards into our curriculum to ensure that students meet all state requirements. Our educators meticulously map these standards to our lesson plans, ensuring that each student gains the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in state assessments and beyond.

The MYP framework provides a holistic approach to education that complements our focus on Islamic identity and state standards. Through interdisciplinary units of inquiry, students explore significant concepts and issues from multiple perspectives. This approach not only enhances critical thinking and problem-solving skills but also encourages students to draw connections between their faith and the wider world. Our holistic approach prepares students for success in their academic pursuits and personal development, grounded in the values and teachings of Islam.

Secondary students, encompassing grades 6 - 12, find a nurturing environment that fosters personal and social development, while also nurturing their Islamic values and character.

We provide high school students with a range of specialized tracks to cater to their diverse abilities, interests, and aspirations, including the prestigious IB Diploma, University Track, and AP courses.

HONORS CREDIT
Recognizing the academic aptitude of our students, we designate Honors Credit to courses that meet an Honors Level standard. The decision is made based on a thorough comparison with the rigor of honors-level classes in other esteemed private schools.

DUAL ENROLLMENT
Our Dual Enrollment program allows motivated students in grades 10 - 12 to embark on an accelerated path by taking postsecondary coursework, earning credits towards a Baccalaureate degree at a Florida public or eligible private institution.

Florida Virtual School (FLVS)
To accommodate highly motivated learners, grades 7 - 12 students have the opportunity to enroll in coursework offered through the Florida Virtual School (FLVS). With no cost for Florida residents, this option provides enriching supplementary courses, which must be approved by the administration and should be taken for enrichment purposes, rather than replacing AYA's core courses.
