Graduation Requirements
AYA GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS (24 CREDITS)
- English (4)
- Mathematics (4) Must include Algebra 1 & Geometry
- Science (3) 2 must have lab; 1 must be Biology; all three must be rigorous; a fourth Science credit is recommended.
- Social Science (3) Must include US Government & Economics, World History, & US History.
- Foreign Language (2) Must have two full credits, sequential, in the same language; a third Language credit is recommended.
- Physical Education (1)
- Fine/Practical Art (1)
- FLVS Online Class (0.5)
- Electives(5.5)
- Minimum GPA of 2.0
- Community Service Hours (75) (FAS requires 100)
Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Requirements
Each Bright Futures program has a different set of requirements, but there are a few that they all share. Here are the requirements you must meet in order to qualify for any Bright Futures program. You must:
- Be a Florida resident, and a US Citizen or eligible noncitizen. Regardless of where your parents live, you are eligible as long as you are a Florida resident.
- Earn a diploma from a Florida high school or high school equivalent. You can earn this diploma from a public high school or a certified private high school.
- Be enrolled, or enrolling, for at least six credit hours per semester.
- Complete the Florida Financial Aid Application before August 31 of your graduation year.
- Enroll in a postsecondary program in the state of Florida.
- Not have been convicted of a felony.
FLORIDA ACADEMIC SCHOLARS (FAS)
*$103/Semester Hour – USF
*$63/Semester Hour - HCC
- Weighted GPA ≥ 3.5 in 16 Credits:
- 4 English (3 with substantial writing)
- 4 Mathematics (Algebra I level and above)
- 3 Natural Science (2 with significant lab)
- 3 Social Science
- 2 World Language (sequential, in the same language)
- 100 Community Service Hours
- 1290 SAT or 29 ACT
Note: SAT score of 1300 & GPA of 3.8 Will Qualify You for USF’s Director’s Award Scholarship ($16,000) + Entrance into Honors College
FLORIDA MEDALLION SCHOLARS (FMS)
*$77/Semester Hour – USF
*$48/Semester Hour - HCC
- Weighted GPA ≥ 3.0 in 16 Credits:
- 4 English (3 with substantial writing)
- 4 Mathematics (Algebra I level and above)
- 3 Natural Science (2 with significant lab)
- 3 Social Science
- 2 World Language (sequential, in the same language)
- 75 Community Service Hours
- 1170 SAT or 26 ACT Score
